Whatchin those kids in the super mini races was really cool. Its awesome that they put them on TV. It brings back memories. But these kids nowadays are insanely fast! And there weren't super mini bikes when I was racing. The KX80 big wheel was the closest thing, but they were rare and had to race in their own class. Im pretty surprised that there weren't more kids on the 150Fs racing in Vegas.

BDW, did you get any photos of super minis flyin over the big finish line double?

Not sure if you all heard or not, but Frank Hoppen was riding his mountain bike and got hit by a dude on a street bike on Sunday. The guy on the bike died and Frank is still in ICU from what I understand. So whether you can send out a prayer or just good thoughts for him, I think he can use all the help we can give him right now.

I saw that GuyB posted about the accident over at Vital...did not hear about the death...sad all the way around. Thoughts and prayers go out to both families...never met Frank but I do admire his work.

Just bought a canon 85mm 1.8. Mainly for portraits and such for my kids. I took it out with me today while riding and was pleasantly surprised with how sharp it was for motocross. If I can get my pics. resized to fit I will post up a few. Anyone else using the 85mm?

First of all, I know these two photos are not very good but I was trying to learn something today. Today the lighting was very harsh, middle of the day, not a cloud in the sky etc. I really hate this kind of lighting but it's typical where I live.

Both of these photos were taken at the same time of day at the same corner, same settings. The lighting was pretty much front-lit. The second image I used my flash. I'm not a huge fan of the flash look but it helped to even out the dark shadows.

Does anyone have any pointers for me when the lighting is harsh and the shadows hard to deal with? Would it be better to move to a part of the track where the lighting is more back-lit etc.? I can't wait for a cloudy day......

Bad ass photo man! Many guys rocking the 2 strokes there? I like it. Cant beat the sound of a two stroke 250. Especially on a supercross track all alone...
