This. And Nikon did the same last year with the same enforcement:

Have to wonder if the FTC ever gets involved in the MAP schemes in photo equipment. They have nailed other electronics manufacturers for enforcing them in the US under anti=trust provisions.

The view from the Grandfather Mtn. bridge. This a four shot vertical pano using the Nikon 14-24 @ 14mm with the D800. The TIFF size 327 MBs and measures 7750 X 7388 with no crop done. :) Also, notice the people on the left side cliff. ;)

Nice. Large enough to make a billboard size print.

BTW, hope the hurricane didn't do much damage in your area.

Well, we didn't have any issues where I live. The coast which is two and a half hours away got hit.

We skated too, just a lot of rain and isolated power outages. The real trouble was around DC and points north.

quick question about the Nikon grip and the D800 at 6 fps - i've read a couple of sources that describe how to get 6 fps from the D800.
The first is the grip with the D4 EN-EL18 battery installed, this is pricey. The other is the grip with the 8 Eneloop batteries. I'd like to use the Eneloop solution if it will work. Both posters (on another forum) said they had these and they worked.

Anyone got one and can verify which of these works?

WOW - I looked at the manual! pg 104 has what I wanted, the grip with the AA batteries gives 6FPS. Just what I need, now I need to get bigger hands.

So here is my current line of thinking. I can trade my 85mm 1.8G for an 18-35mm and $200. I can then buy an 80-200 2.8 AF-D. Good idea or great idea?

Someone just listed an 18-35 on FM for $300, probably won't last long since it's the cheapest FX UWA zoom.

I think I'm going to make that trade. The guy is going to pay for my shipping costs, and give me $200 on top of his lens for my 85mm 1.8G. Just hoping the 80-200 performs well on the D800.

Rick - it usually works very well with the 8 AA batteries. I've done it before when I was shooting with my ex-D700 which increased the burst rate to 8 fps.

The only downside is that it becomes much heavier with the 8 AA batteries. NiMh batteries works best.

Finally I received a call from the ESCALATION TEAM .Here is an update from the question that I have been asking tech support which has been elevated to the ESCALATION TEAM. The question was based on Nikon'Warranty which states.

"This Nikon Digital Imaging Product is warranted by Nikon, Inc. to be free from defects in material and
workmanship for one (1) year from the date of purchase.
During this period if this product is found to be defective in material or workmanship, Nikon Inc, or one its
authorized service facilities will at its option, either repair or replace this Product without charge"

The questions were simple and it goes like this.
1. What is their definition of DEFECTIVE?
2.How many times should the unit be sent for repair before Nikon replaces the unit.

Escalation Team Answer . From a certain Mr. Brian
1. They don't have a written policy about both questions.
2.It is a case to case basis. When asked in what case,,, I was just answered it's a case to case basis.
3.We are sorry, we understand you frustration.
4. I can't replace your unit, I will forward your request for replacement.
