Hi everyone! My name is Amanda and its my first time posting :p I was hoping for some critique about an image I took for a friend. She loved it, but I'm not crazy about it and I'm not sure why. Can't seem to figure out if i like the crop or if it bothers me. Thanks for the help in advance!!

Poor fellow...only 1&3/4 eyes! Cropped a little to tight for my taste.

This is a nice photo...Yes a wider crop would be nice, and a little fill light to brighten his face and add a catchlight to his eyes would also help...Welcome to POTN Amanda.:)

Welcome to the forum. It is a good shot in my opinion, but as others have said it is a bit tight and a wider framing would be better. I could also be a bit brighter...

Ah thank you! Im just starting to really learn the inner workings of photography, so it's great to get some actual kind feedback. Most forums I've tried either have no room for amateurs or just deliver unwarrented praise.

Also looks like the apple is in focus, but not the eyes. Nice action capture and good bokeh though.

I would have the eye less central, if the original has the space to crop that way. Put it on the left vertical line of the rule of thirds.
