I am so happy I was able to put this together to revive my first camera. :-)

It is my current wallpaper.

Very nice. I miss my AE-1 I inherited from my father. It was stolen :(

Thanks! You read my mind. I'm on the lookout for a 1.4 actually.

I bought the body, dateback and motor drive separately on ebay. Finding a black body in good nick was a real challenge. :-)

We had the lens at home (from a friend). Everything works but I haven't run a film through it. I am using this as a display - so I'm not worried about it anyway. As you imagine 1.4 will complete it.

And that motordive sounds awesome!

Yeah, minty black ones are getting raaaaaaaaaare! Mine even has the original brown leather case!! (Same as you, though, it's mainly just to have it...I usually run film through my silver AE-1/AE-1Ps).

Yeah, the motor drive was wicked...I actually had two...both mint, but one came with the original packaging (including the original box, with the sticker still on it from 1982 or whatever it was for the price...can't remember what it was, but something ridiculous, around $200...30 years ago!!).

The only film I use now is infrared and that's like 2-3 rolls a year. I use my EOS-1V for it. :-)

Sweet!! I have a bunch of film gear, when I'm in Canada I shoot through a roll every month or two, rotating the cameras...

Do you own both of those? It would be a bit strange for an American to own the European and Japanese versions of the same model.
