i wonder what the prices end up at...i'm guessing $1200 for the zoom...$1,000 for the 35f2IS...
Based on Canon's latest activities, I'd say that's a dream. More like $1800/$1800.

Of course if it were Canon who came out with that people would **** and moan about the union bokeh not-as-sharp corners. People just hate Canon.

Nov 05, 2012 11:53 | #66 I think a lens like this can be a success if priced in the 500's. The 24-105 has a lot of range, and sells for 7-800, so a lens like this needs to sell for a bit less. I dont think it would sit well for a lot of people if canon decides to jack up the price over 1K for this, considering the 24-105 being an option. 35 F2 IS sounds like it would be sweet if priced well. Yeah, if true, good luck with that, Canon...good luck with that. lol I'd think it'd be around 1300, but who knows. Still too much for such an unattractive aperture and range combination. - James -

I'd still be butt hurt about their choice to chop 35mm off the end, but upgraded optics, IS, coatings (presumably), and macro ability combine to make this pretty attractive. Guess we'll see what rumors make it to the final announcement. — Neil

The N1k0n 24-85 VR is $600 and it has variable aperture and is not even as good as the 24-105L optically. Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!
