High level view of the south end of Windermere with the mountain fells in the background. Autumn well in advance in this area.

Canon screwed up - this camera needs a faster lens.

...and they put a faster lens on the G15, but then you're stuck with a smaller sensor. Putting a faster lens on the G1X would result in a much bigger lens. I'd say that out of everything that the G1X offers, the lens is probably the star performer.

Totally agree, Canon have got the balance right. Lucky Penguin is quie right a fast lens on a big sensor usually means a bigger lens and you lose the definition compact camera.
The G1x doesn't really need a fast lens the sensor size with the comfortable 1600 ISO is good enough to satisfy the photographers needs.

I think its one week left before Autumn ends and the trees loose there leaf. Two local images one taken 1 hour after sunrise and the other 1 hour before sunset, both in the golden hours so to speak.

One of the local lakes where they do quite a lot of speed boat racing. A few minutes late, a rather large heron was gliding above the calm waters.

Thought I had taken this shot with the 5D, but it was actually the G1x. Good classical guitarist this chap.

A couple of fountain shots that I,ve only just managed to look at. These were from a mid afternoon walkabout when searching out some fountains for a future theme.

I took a couple of shots in this woodland area with both the G1x and 5d mk111, this G1x shot came pretty close to the 5D on image quality.

Been shooting Jpeg for 6 months (G1x), now switched over to RAW, bit more detail in the foliage, not much processing done on this one, just fantastic light this particular late afternoon.

This camera does action got the birds in flight and the teenagers running between the water feature, saw this viewpoint earlier and went back there when the light was right.

This was a big test for the G1x today, dark and very wet with lots of black to white contrast. Didn't seem any trouble focussing in the low light.

I really like this 3rd image, great composition and scale. You've nailed it for exposure and focus, great amount of textured detail. The people on the top gives just shows the scale of the place, is this on the North Coast of Ireland.
