A few from Ansonia's last 2 games. They moved to 8-0 on the season and became the first team in the state to qualify for playoffs.

From Flickr, grab the HTML/BBCode. You can select the size of the photo and then select and copy the img src link that is in quotes. Paste that into the Insert Image box. Hope that helps.

Thank you! I figured out that I needed to click the BBcode button, not the HTML!

Now, Im a beginner and Ive only been out to one game. Actually two. I got the freshman game and the Varsity boys.

I love my 70-200 f4L, but it just aint gonna cut it. Im gonna have to step up to the 2.8 for night games. I borrowed a friends 550ex flash, but it just wont reach out too far and the recycle times weren't fast enough either. Maybe with an external battery pack.

Anyway, here is my first attempt. Unfortunately, the shots with the best action were the ones with poor IQ. Feedback is appreciated!

Weather was overcast here, and the sun going down. No sun on the field, no lights...

Jeremy

Oops, forgot to post the Varsity shots. These were under the bad lights with no flash. Again with my 70-200 f4L. I got shots with way better action, but they were just too noisy with the f4. Gonna have to go to the 2.8.

There ya go. I like 2,3,and 4 from the Varsity set. Watch out for amputated legs like in #3. Like the perspective in #4. Funny how many high school teams are Patriots. The local high school I shoot for are the Washington Patriots. Last year the boys soccer team made it to the State Championship Tournament. 3 out of the final 4 teams were Patriots. The championship game was between the George Washington Patriots and the Washington Patriots. Funny.

Looking good everyone! Welcome Rebel... Glad you got the tags worked out.

Tomorrow we play round 1 of playoffs at home. We play a team from Huntington Beach. The weather is calling for snow tonight and a high of 30° tomorrow and gusty winds. This is going to make for some miserable conditions.... For the other team, that is....

Thanks a lot man. I had not even thought about the amputated limbs. And it took me a second to even realize what you were talking about. But after you mentioned it, It does look exactly like an amputation! Haha.

I know the f4 is holding back the image quality, but what do ya'll think about them from an IQ stand point? I had to use a lot more noise reduction in LR than Id like, but it is what it is. I personally like using the available light from the stadium lights because it looks like they are really playing a game. Using a flash gives bright and sharp images, but it looks like its a photo shoot and they are not playing a real game. But if I do end up getting into the sports photog biz I will have to go with a flash because I think the buyers will want that bright, sharp image. Obviously, the flash is nice because it exposes the eyes. Anyway, that's just my opinion.

Im looking forward to when I can afford to get a 7D and a 70-200 2.8. And Im still trying to decide what "short" lens I want to put on my T2i to use as my second camera for when action comes running my way....

I did mess up when posting the pictures though. Number 2 in the varsity is actually a freshman player, but I thought It was varsity because it was taken when the sun was down and the lights were on. I noticed the uniforms. We only have one Patriots team here. The school is Liberty High. But we're a fairly small town with a population of 350K. I can see how in So Cal there are multiple teams sharing a popular name.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Well last nights game put us out of the competition. We didn't really stand a chance unfortunately. Ended the season at 6-7 with a loss in the 2nd round of playoffs. Never thought we'd even make playoffs but the boys won when it mattered. Unfortunately that meant actually having to play a team that was much better than us in the 2nd round versus a team that is now 11-1. The other team was pretty impressive, not even 2 minutes into the first quarter the score was 15-0, and it was plain to see it was going to be a long night. But a good season. Glad basketball is starting, it was starting to get way too cold here!!

They did well, made the playoffs and did all they could. nice shots!

We won round 1 today. It was close as we played a little flat in the first half and trailed 12-6. but we really picked up our game the way we normally play and won 27-20. It was cool that my son (#3) scored the go ahead TD in the 4th and finished the game with an interception just as the clock ran out. He almost had a pick-6 but, oh well....

The weather turned foul and we had to move the game off the mountain to our alternate field in Lucerne Valley. Our field was covered in snow and the other team could not make the drive up the mountain safely. Next weeks game is going to be a really tough one.
