if you send your images to a magazine how long would you wait for them to get in touch before you send them to someone else.

in what context? Submitting an article, seeking employment, entertaining the mail room? I dont know about the UK but in the US blind submissions are rarely acted upon.

The word "magazine" is rather vague. If you are talking about Maxim, Playboy, any top notch widely distributed magazine, they usually dont take unsolicited photos unless you have an agent and belong to SAG. If you are speaking of local magazines, then your chances are better, however most magazines, either local, worldwide, or regional, have photographers on staff, or on retainer. If you are looking to have your photos published in a magazine, your best bet is to enter a photo contest and hope for the best. You are talking about an extremely competitive profession. And when I say extremely, I mean over the top. Good luck!

So true. I started submitting international. Maxim Espanol, Maxim Bulgaria etc...
After a few submissions of model Alba Zapta to Maxim espanol the editor finally respnded. :)

Yeah, you need to find out if the magazine you're submitting to will even accept submissions. Otherwise you're just wasting your time.

and look at backissues, see what they print, figure out what they like. Shoot for that, send only perfect images. Call them to find out what submission guidelines they might have, if they blow you off, find guidelines for other magazines and use those.
I'd only send a handful of photos, nobody has time to look at a giant portfolio or wade through yet an other website, make it easy for the recipient.

Call and find out who the correct person(s) might be to send things to, photo editor, etc.

It's going to be close to impossible, but only those that tried (or were very lucky) got in, so go for it. Good luck!
