Yeah... Canon's pricing is getting a bit nuts...

The real reason the dark side is appealing is i feel they're offering more "Everyman" equipment...

Ya, still interesting. Cause it looks like Canon is continuing to refresh the non-L primes. First were the 24mm and 28mm. Now 35mm. So going by focal length, next should be 50mm. There's hope.

Dude, the 24-70 has a 0.2m MFD and 0.7x max magnification.

If true, the 35 f/2 IS is cheaper than both the new 24 f/2.8 IS (80,000 Yen) and the 28 f/2.8 IS (76,000 Yen).

So I'd say the MSRP on it will be $750 with sale trips to ~$650 on "Canon savings days".
Not cheap by any means but half way reasonable.

See the other thread, I like the 24-70, its the kit lens the 6D should have and with that MFD I wont lie, I wouldnt mind it in my bag on a FF DSLR.... For food shots it would be amazing

Still twice the old 35mm f/2, Which is what makes it hard to swallow...

The farther from the flange distance, the harder to make the lens. A 35 should be cheaper than the 28, and the 50 should be the cheapest of the non-L IS primes. I await one for ~$500.

Sigma's is $500. Canon's $700 minimum and $1000 if they add IS. Yes, 50 is cheaper, but it's also f1.4.

Sigma's 35mm f/1.4 is $900...

And here we are, nearly one year after the rumor came out, but still no new nifty fifty.

I heard it will be a pack in / bonus for the 200-400 when released in 2016
