Thanks to neimad19 for the heads up on the night of the 13th November 2012. I was getting ready to go to bed when I checked this site, and he had mentioned a good chance for geomagnetic activity. I grabbed my gear (forgot the second camera) and headed out to find high ground to show big sky. I used my 7D with a Tokina 11-16mm and played with settings all night. I minimized moving the camera around which was hard, because there was incredible activity all over the sky, but I really wanted to capture the essence of what I was seeing. It was an amazing night, calm, only -6C and very, very quiet.
The time-lapse is interesting in that the aurora swirled like a whirlpool for quite some time. I have not seen that before so it was a new experience. Very cool!
