I haven't been paying too much attention to the 15mm f/8, but at $49 I might give it a look-see.

I just looked that up and it is really neat, who wouldn't want one for $49 brand new. When did they announce it?

It was announced a few months ago with the E-PM2 and E-PL5 I believe.

I downloaded the RAW files and even at f/5.6 it's mush at the edges. It's not sharp in the center wide open and doesn't ever seem to get really sharp anywhere even stopped down. I'm now very concerned. This doesn't look like a good lens.

He says it's a production model with firmware v1.0. I'm holding out hope that some of it is camera shake and some of it is high ISO detail loss.

He calls it an "FT3" (1 to 5 scale with 5 being most reliable) rumor, but it's from a brand new source so I'd personally take it with a huge grain of salt, even more so than typical rumors.

It's personal preference. I love wide angles and actually shoot wide angle portraiture on my 5D MKII with my 17-40 f/4, so only having a 20mm right now is kind of limiting. I gave the kit I got with my E-P3 along with the E-P3 to my dad since I was never happy with the results from it.

it is and I'm also a wide fan so I get it. Nice shot. I just normally shy people away from the 12mm because of it's price over the 14mm it doesn't add much for most people. Built better yes, but it's similar. But if you want/need wide it's the winner.

From what I've seen the GX1 is quite good. Not as good as Olympus's newest but still good. For skiing pics though I'd probably want one of the newer Olympus cameras for the extra dynamic range.

I haven't paid too much attention to the E-PM2 and E-PL5, but AFAIK the E-PM2 has a fixed screen, and for both cameras 8fps comes at the penalty of no continuous AF during the burst. At least that's how it is on the E-M5 with its 9fps.

PM2 is a fixed screen no mode dial version. PL5 has the flip screen. Both have 8fps. the L has a few more in camera filters (that I never use). PL has a changable front grip (for stylized options that are lame but it might turn into an easy way to add a functional front grip). M is $550, L is $650. I'm very torn. They're both ugly compared to the GX1 but might offer enough more functionality I'm considering them...

and I'm ordering a 17mm right now...

I've seen enough to buy the 17mm f1.8 next time i pass through HK, no 20 1.7 or 25 1.4. I don't pixel peep, no need to, real life examples are enough for me. Sure, it might not be exactly what we were expecting but it will give me good enough IQ and the equiv 34mm is ideal, Price is OK also. http://robinwong.blogspot.be …mm-f18-review-street.html (external link)
