Do you use an ND filter to knock down the light from the strobes and go wide open?

^ he's shot that at f/5.. most modern strobes can give low output so you don't have to use ND's indoors.. for example Einsteins (2.5ws to 640ws)

i used einsteins yea im quite surprised how shallow is f5

i used some diy kino's for the same headshot except i shot it at f1.2

lets just say it's not very flattering in studio haha

question: how often do you send your 85L back to canon to get calibrated? or if ever do you need to does this?

i think if you push in tight at F5 it will make it look just like this shot..

btw, the shot is fantastic.. love your processing , and my friend Zach S, has enstiens and he says the work really well..

I don't think that Canon will make an improvement if we calibrated it :-|

I have sent them once because my 85L used to be not sharp. I've tried it back after calibrated. No improvement so I decided to buy another 85L *must have a good copy*. Finally, I found it and now I'm happy with a good copy 85L
