On mine, bought in the EU, the label is identical to that from post #220.

Simon, the label does look suspect. It looks like it was stuck on afterwards, what's all that debris on the right of it?

Thanks, already looked at eos count and you have to pay via PayPal which I don't have. Any other way of finding out shutter count?

Noticed that in camera the battery has some info ref pics taken or something, is that useful?

Just pay via Paypal, you can pay without an account. For an item costing £2,000, the few quid it costs is nothing

I can understand doing this for peace for mind but I dont think it would prove anything to DR. There is no way of telling when the images were taken as far as I know.

Good luck to both of you.

Here - as requested - an image of the label and serial number for a camera bought in April 2012 in Australia with genuine Australia/New Zealand warranty certificate.

Response received from DR, which gives assurances all cameras are new stock. They have asked for a pic of the label on the base to investigate further. Will keep you posted.

So you have the same issue wolf as Simon? (not necessarily a faulty sensor, but erraneous serial number)

Interesting response from DR. Simon posted an email from them in which they seem to know about this serial number issue and said they will change the sticker if he sends it back. Nothing about new stock or replacing the camera as far as i know.

Of course im only going by posts in this thread, i cant comment otherwise. It does seem strange that they would do this but lets hope its not a widespread issue.

I have also sent 2 pictures to them, outlining the differences, one of a genuine serial label and number, the other of mine.
I'll see if they respond.

Thanks for all your help on this so far.

Yes it looks as if that is the case.!

I have also sent of the pic of the camera base and have since been asked for serial no. On the exif data which differs. Will keep you posted but so far a prompt response from DR.

Sounds like the rebirthing refurbished products to me, how did your cameras come was the packaging intact with everything factory sealed and in place, Canon products are extremely well packaged with a place for all items.
Anything unwrapped or loose would be suspicious

Mine wasn't sealed, DR had put a spare battery and memory card in, plus the lens blower and memory card holder. All the cables are sellotaped up though, still are as i haven't opened them.
