I prefer to have a little bit of overlap. Zoom lenses aren't always at their best performance at the very edge of their ranges and I prefer to not have to change lenses as often.

Snydremark my very own Lightrules moment More info | Nov 16, 2012 19:02 | #17 I love the 24-105, myself; but if you already have the 17-55 and are happy with that focal range, I would just keep it and get the 10-22. As others have mentioned, a little overlap is pretty nice, since you can keep the wider lens for much more specific uses. - Eric S.: My Birds/Wildlife

That's a very odd statement on this forum, especially since you already own the 17-55. -rick The_Bully wrote in post #15249709 ![]() I am not a professional so I don't need my pics to be super sharp. It doesn't matter what math you use, 200 > 150. If you're gonna make that conversion for one lens you have to make it for both...which is then 280 vs 240 <shrug> - Eric S.: My Birds/Wildlife

Nov 19, 2012 09:57 | #29 Its really not about eliminating overlap, its about getting more coverage. I don't have a lot of gear and I don't think I ever will. I am just a hobbyist. My thought was with the canon 10-22 I will be able to shoot wide angle landscapes etc. Then with the Tamron 24-70 I will have a good walk around lens, which has f2.8 for low light. I the past when I have travelled I just took the 17-55 and now I will ad the 10-22. _______________
