This lens (at least mine anyway) tends to create halos around any kind of big light source...it can be nice but it can also be a pain. Heather

This lens (at least mine anyway) tends to create halos around any kind of big light source...it can be nice but it can also be a pain. I'm trying to do more landscape photography and am trying to decide if I should go just the cheaper route and get the new IS version of this lens, or go with something like the Sigma 10-20mm. ![]() I have the IS version of this lens & I never noticed any halo, but I don't think I used it for any sunsets/sunrise shots. I know I used my Sigma 200mm to take a moon shot & it had a halo, but the moon was so bright & I might not have had my settings right? I am super happy w/my Sigma lens. It takes great clear shots & has nice Bokeh. My Canon 18-55mm seems to be a good lens, it's pretty new & I have no complaints w/it!! Only complaints about it being MY fault w/different settings!! LOL. Good luck w/your decision!! Jen

Now after reading this thread, I am feeling kind of stupid to spend $600 on another lens, and I do believe if I do get another lens it only will be a true L glass lens. Why spend money on a little better lens and not just save up on the king glass! Thanks for everyone that helped me not make more bad decisions. I will keep my 18-55 for a while longer and save up for L glass. Canon 7D, Canon T1i
