Keeper rate was pretty low actually. I'm still not very consistent with the whole 7D and 400mm combo. These were all shot with a general admission ticket however the first 3 were from the turn 15 grandstand. The camera may stay in the bag most of today if the crowd makes it tough to move around easily.

I had similar luck, but did OK considering. Those are real good ones too. The locked up wheel is awesome stuff.

Great perspective on a few of those! We will try for turn 15 in the stands for motoGP. Where did you snag the ones where you are nearly eye level with the car?

Nice, I was sitting in turn 15 as well. Are the colors as shot or PP?

Really great shots. My favorite is #5. I think GA was a great option at this event - you could get some good sight lines just walking around. I had seats in Turn 4, and it was a real challenge to get pan shot with a long lens - huge angular rate of change.

Here are a couple of my favorites:

I add a little saturation, about 5-7, in Lightroom.

I was up at turn 5 in the bleachers shooting with my 70-200. Wish I was able to get a 1.4x teleconverter. I love the close in shots you got there!

I think the CoTA is beautiful, and we'll have many repeated events here!

It was taken from outside turn 9. I don't like sharing all my secrets but I can put together a photo guide if you'd like since I probably won't be a regular at the track.

Standing in front of the turn 9 stands you should see a photo hole in the fence that you can shoot through until it fills up with credentialed photogs.

400 5.6; the 70-200 made a few select appearances but stayed in the bag most of the weekend.

Noted!! Thanks!

We will have grandstand seats for the GP race in April, but will likely go over there and try that spot for a bit during fri/sat.

My wife has asthma so its hard for me to really walk the track as fast as I can do it. Dont want to leave her somewhere then get separated. We will have seating next year, so at least we can meet up there.

I brought my 70-200 also, but never used it except for friday. It's too bad too because its STUPID-SHARP. But the 200 was not enough reach.
