I'm sorry, I dont have any right now. I have taken some portraits in the past though. Its a great lens, I have the L version which has IS. The IS is great at that focal length.

Non-L 100mm here. Its a very sharp lens but not the fastest focuser. Any softness in this picture is the result of the subject being on a swing. This was taken at f/4 on a 5D.

thanks for the links

now... since i have a crop body, am i going to have to stand in a different zip code to be able to use the 100mm for portrait type shots?
i'm asking because of my experience with my 50mm f1.8 lens ...

Not necessarily, only twice as far away as you'd have to be to frame the shot with your 50/1.8. Of course the perspective will be different, and some, including me, would say better, as a result.

Here are a few snaps I took with the 100l on my 60d. I really like this lens as general tele. The IS makes it very versatile.

This is the compete image reduced for web display.

And this is a 100% crop from the original image, which is sharp enough to see that the model is wearing contact lenses.

Here's one of my favourite non-macro shots with this lens (it's my current avatar).

I think it depends what you usually shoot. I have a 7D and like the 50mm focal length for portrait shots. I found that 85mm was a little too much zoom for me... just my take on it. The examples from other ppl here are amazing though.

Not at all, I used mine on my 7D, it's a very versatile lens.

Hey..I tried this lens at b&h.
the auto focus is very fast when set limit at 0.5m-infinity
I have 17-55 f2.8. I do not feel 100mm macro L focus any noticeable slower.
