Use photomatix. Someone here suggested that I make the raw files into TIFFs before putting them into photomatix - i've found that gives much better results - doesn't stretch/distort the images etc so it's much easier to blend a single exposure back in....

The "cornerhouse" catches what I remember to be the atmosphere on a cold winters night," behind the locks" is pure old Manchester.
