As simple as it gets...

60D with a 430 EXII on the hot shoe.

The car is parked in the garage facing outwards in an overcast morning. I underexposed by 4 stops in M (maybe a little more, you can experiment). Then I brought in the flash in manual mode, experimenting with power, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8. 1/4 worked the best.

I am using my 18-200 at 18mm, so I am less than 2 ft from the car. This way, the light fall-off is quick and everything past 2-3 ft fades to black.

I like the 'cat's eyes' lights, so I turned them on.

EDIT: I took out a few reflections of the flash on the back of the mirrors and other vertical surfaces with the healing tool in GIMP

Thanks, so it was bare flash then !

Funny, first I heard of it was yesterday. I was killing time while the wife was shopping, I was eyeballing lenses. The counter guy was telling me he preferred the Sigma 150-500 to the Canon 100-400, he claimed I would be happier with it. And it's cheaper.

Methinks it would be a good replacement for my Canon 70-200 which never quite seems to have the reach I'm looking for. And the images above are damn sharp. Better check out the thread in the lenses section.

Hi Pete,

I do like it, but don't get to use it as often as I wish I could. My main purpose for buying it was to get bird pictures. So far I have done poorly in that aspect sad to say.

Check out THIS thread.
