A friend forwarded an email with a series of surf images made by a guy out in Hawaii. Spectacular images but it has to be frightening to know that water is going come crashing down.

The forwarded email said that he did it because his wife wanted a picture for their house. What's your excuse? :-)

The link: http://www.clarklittlephotography.com (external link)

Yes Clark little. The whole reason I started surf photography. I saw him do his thing in the ocean years ago and got a chance to talk with him. (Before I even knew who he was) later that day when I got back to our hotel I googled him and was just amazed on the images he took. I got my first DSLR when a couple months later and realized how exspenive these dang housings are!! Anyways 2 years later I've got my self a nice little set up and some waves to play in

The first time I ever used the 5D3 was back on October 18, a day after receiving it

This was shot in Committee Room 4 of the House of Lords in London. It made the 5D3 love at first try.

I'm reading a lot of good things about this lens. Love the shot of the old man.

I believe one of the main issues with noise is using too low an ISO for the situation resulting in underexposure, which this appears in your shot. Don't get me wrong, I love the shot, but I think you would have cleaner (less) noise issues if you shoot with closer exposure and set the tones in post. Also, how much of a crop factor is that? Would love to hear from the pros (which I'm the furthest thing from) and what their take is. Again, great shot!

In web size it is a very nice image, but...a lot of things going against it shot with the settings you chose. No need for f16, f8 would have been more than enough. Shutter speed of 1/25s pokes another smearing element in there, 1/60-125 would be better. f/8, 1/125s and Auto ISO would have given you a better shot, and though you might still have noise in the shadows, it would have a different pattern and be better handled with some luminance NR, and you could use other tweaks in LR to make it even better.

it is just a test shot >>using F16 try to catch some water movments
I think using auto iso is a bad idea espicaly when shotting land/seaescapes because i cant control noise at all
