Yep there is a definite halo around them in a couple of shots.

just sold this amazing lens to buy a 24-70 2.8. I hope I won't regret this decision later..

Any way, here's my final photos taken with it:

Just bought this lens... Deals hard to pass up and although was going for a Sigma 35, decided I did not want to spend that much right now. Also wanted something a bit longer and not a fan of 50mm... Got it with the Canon hood for $350 after the 7% rebates on Amazon and Discover plus free overnight shipping. Cant beat that! Had the 85L prior so I am curious how it will compare!

I did the same thing (except got a generic hood)! Discover for the win :)

Got mine today! Really impressive lens for the money... I owned the 85L prior and this really holds its own up the L... From f/1.8 on that is... Did not get to try it outdoors yet, but I am sure it will do great.

My copy looks spot on... But to check, I ran it through FoCal and it gave me +7.... But one shot clearly shows that causes considerable back focus. Ran the test again, got +6... Weird... No way it is that... Ran the test at 25x the FL and a little longer and shorter with similar results. +10 EV and all that... Just me and my normal issues with FoCal for whatever reason... :p

Oh well, I am just keeping it at 0 for now as it clearly looks the best from what I can tell. Not sure why FoCal is saying what it does (with 'excellent' data).

Can't wait to play more with this lens! Build quality is quite good and all that. Easily worth the $330 I paid new.

I really dig this lens wide open... Some sample shots from my copy I got yesterday along with crop on the first one. All f/1.8.

Just curious, did you have the 85L II or I to compare to ? Thanks
