Here's a behind the scenes view in case anyone's interested. Not illuminated is the 4'X3' bank light in the back that houses 5 heads.

I am definitely. In the first shot, is the softbox near the ground all you're using as a backdrop? If so, how much of the final image is photoshopped? The shadow is obviously, but what about the background itself?

You're correct Tobi, the background *is* the bank light. Since the final use of these images are to be silo'd onto a white background, I want the glass to be 'at home' in a white environment...if that makes any sense.

There is a black card suspended slightly above and behind the glass via a boom arm and it's purpose is two fold. First, it cuts a little light off of the whipped topping in order to hold detail on the edges, secondly it provides a bit of density to the flat part of the base of the glass which otherwise would not hold it's edge against the white back light.

This image is one of 25 or so for a chain restaurant drink menu... A variety of drinks in a variety of glassware. Originally set up to accommodate martini glasses which can be a little tricky to light as the glass shape refracts all kinds of odd shapes, this set offered a good general starting point for different shaped glasses with only a tweak or 2 necessary as the glassware changed.

THese images are essentially straight out of the camera with the exception of the added drop shadow and a bit of clean up where the glass originally sat on the white disk.

So, I'm brand new to strobes and especially to gels but when you say this, do you mean gels to try to match the temperature of the ambient sunlight? Also, any recs on brands of gels?
