Are lenses more resonably priced in Germany as I will be there next year?
Thanks Bill

OMG! It's been a YEAR already! (external link)

I'm a bit torn myself. I prefer the look (and cost) of the 35 ASPH, but a little turned off by the focus shift... The 35 FLE is just major coin. I'll have to wait and hopefully pick it up next time I'm in Germany (this fall).

I have both the Biogon and Nokton as well. Both are actually quite nice. The Biogon has practically zero distortion and has the really nice "Zeiss look" while the Nokton, well, goes to f/1.2! And it's actually quite nice wide open. It is a tank, but not so bad. It's actually got me on the fence about a Leica 35 (hey, it's paid for and proven).

Thanks! Yeah, truth be told it's been my favorite lens since getting it. It's ridiculously good from wide open, has a great character and small (relatively)! But yeah... I find myself drawn to a 35 a bit more.

On the M8 I had it good - I used the 2,8/25 ZM for a ~33mm equivalent. That lens, plain and simple - is insane. Even wide open, but especially in the butter zone... Great googly moogly is it sharp. Not particularly fast at f/2.8, but still.

5D MK 3//24mm "L" 1.4// 16-35 "L" 2.8 // 24-70 "L" 2.8 MK2// 35mm "L" 1.4 // Canon EX600RT flash // Fuji X-E2
35m 1.4 // 14mm 2.8 //Fuji EFX20 & Fuji X100S
Lightroom 3

Good question. I don't think so but it wouldn't do any harm to check. I would HIGHLY recommend the 35 1.4 LUX FLE if that fits with your vision.

I will as right now that would be the first lens I would get for the new "M" next year.
I have a fuji now as I wanted to test a similar camera with a 35mm 1.4 and love this thing . now thinking of upgrading to the new "M" once there out and the reviews are in .

It was with great reluctance that I returned the Monochrome today. I had a fun 5 days with it. Maybe some day..... I think my biggest reluctance to get one is the concern about walking around with $10k+ of equipment on the street. I will probably get a XP1 instead. It was very close in the handling compared to the Leica.

Having to shoot manual did make me think more about my pictures and I think I will apply some of the same techniques shooting with the E-M5 and the x100.

One from yesterday.

When I go out with my Canons I always get someone asking which Canon it was blah blah but its very rare indeed anyone recognize the Leica. I feel safer with the Leica than I ever did with my DSLRs.

Glad to see you're rocking that MM with style, Allen!

How's the colour rendering? :)

Yup. Don't know the exact dates yet but for sure it'll be Jan 21 -24th as that's the dates the show runs.

Maybe we can hook up? Bring the Leica. We'll get Ed involved to.

If I haven't sold it by then. :) I only have the 50 left so I'm not sure how good it'll be for shooting street.

It'd be good to meet Ed as well. I'm hoping to be there on the Saturday before and leave on the next Sunday but it's up to the boss to determine the actual dates. I'll be pressing him in the next couple of weeks.
