Is there an image example thread dedicated to this lens used with a teleconverter? I did a couple searches but couldn't find one if it exists. In case anyone happens to subscribe I'd appreciate the link thanks.

If I can be choosey one dedicated to the MkIII converters would be nice. Mounted on a 7D.. :D

I have a set on my Flickr page (external link) for my shots taken with the 1.4x III (I don't use a 7D, tho). Some of the shots were taken with the extender and my 70-200mm MkII and some with my 400mm f/5.6 (the description accompanying each shot lists what equipment was used, along with exposure info).

There's also a Flickr group for shots taken with the 70-200 2.8 and 1.4x extender (external link), but I don't know if all the shots were taken with the MkII lens and MkIII extender.

(you should be able to see the full-size photos by clicking on the "O" link at the top. these were straight RAW->JPG conversion with default LR4.2 settings. No other processing other than the small watermark of my name on the corner during the export process via LR.)

2 sets of comparison photos. For both shots, I used the 100-400 first, and then the time that elapsed between shots was about how fast I could swap lenses.

It seems to me that my 100-400 outperformed the 70-200 + 2x combo. But mine is but one sampling so I don't know whether you can form a solid conclusion with just one set of examples here. My 70-200 alone certainly outperforms the 100-400 shot at 200mm.

Just some food for thought.
