I just picked up another 1x4 CL stripbox, the last one in stock from B&H. There seems to be some kind of shortage though with the grids. Everyone seems to have the 1x3's but not the 1x4's. B&H has the the 1x4 grids listed as 'discontinued'. Anyone have any ideas or other compatible grids?

I had a problem a few months ago regarding the quality of Creative Light grids. Had to return an Octa that had missing snaps for the inner diffuser. Ordered 1x4 strip lights with grids, and had a problem with the first grids. The quality of their grids was a hit or miss deal. I like the quality of the modifiers, but the grids were another story.

Regards,

110yd

Hey thanks. The grid that I have for the 1x4 that I already have seems to be working fine. But it looks like there might have been some issues with other ones, hence the 'discontinued' notice from B&H maybe. Yeah I really like these boxes too but I now just need to find a compatible 1x4 grid or DIY something.

Ok I'm stumped. I cannot find any 12x48 grid anywhere with the exception of a Profoto one for an amazing 291.00. Grids, the biggest ripoff going that everyone needs.

bad news for you sir, Creative Light is shutting down production. I suspected this, because they have many items discontinued at BH. Also Profoto has "new" speedrings, like the Profoto brand speedring for Canon/Nikon flashes, which are identical to my CL version. Maybe these new and lower priced Profoto "RFi" softboxes are bascially CL softboxes with the Profoto brand.

I just called BH and after consulting with their CL buyer he confirmed they are shutting down production. I suspected that Profoto was behind the CL brand the whole time and someone at BH told me yes, "Profoto is one of the companies involved".

Hey thanks for that. Yeah just yesterday I noticed that BH's listing for CL's octaboxes are labeled as 'discontinued' as well. I saw it coming but didn't want to believe it. I got BH's very last 1x4 box. So that's the end of Creative Light... bummer, I liked their stuff. Not sure why this happened. I'll have to check out Profoto's RFi line like you mentioned, hopefully there's some compatibility.
