the AF system may seem new but using the center AF point there is absolutely no difference. And the -3ev doing wonders at low light is yet to be seen. I am usually pro new tech adoption but if a 5dmkii can be had for cheap (and it can be now) - there is no point not choosing it.

shutter spped of 1/4000 and 1/180 flash sync is cripplign kind of. Wifi and Gps are nice to have but not a great add on for most folks. I seldom use the gps on my Panasonic P&S - eats battery.

i rather pick up something that does somethings very well rather than a jack of all trades. The 6D is nice and I would see a huge market for it as a secondary body for many pros.

Seriously, why do people complain about this? It has an expandable ISO to 50, use it, or buy an ND filter. This really isn't a big deal :/

still nobody answered my question above about hidden sensors

According to Canons website spec sheet, it does not. They would be listed in there as a feature, which they are in the 5DII spec.

Is it possible that the newer AF system built into the 6D doesn't need them, and will function similarly? This seems to be the consensus from a few of the early reviews we've seen.

seriously how many times you go on a shoot (that is not planned) and you tag alogn all your equipment. Not everyone is a pro to carry all sorts of filters along. Dont be a fanboy - the 6D is a fantastic camera no doubt but I would rather take a caemra that does a few things very well rather than a camera that does everything just about okay. The AF is not mind blowing on the 6D and if the 5dmkii can be had new for 1400 - why not take that savings and put it in a new lens.

Just saying because i see normal folks these days buying a 5dmkiii using a canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM and complaining why his photos not great. The concept that a good camera takes good photos is well known in the circles but the concept of good lens may not be.

At a price diff that pops up every now and then the 5dmkii is the winner- at the same price though the 6D would be better pricked up.

I'm willing to bet that it you're taking a shot at 1.4 and 1/4000 doesn't work, 1/8000 probably won't either.

Where can you get it new for $1400?

If it is money your are considering. How many memory cards will you need? Compact Flash is expensive. SD cards are cheap.

I've got boatloads of SD cards and although $300 is substantial its just under my "what the hell" limit. Its really the size and feel that are bothering me. I'll probably get over it though.

Why are people so afraid of buying used cameras. The 5d2 goes for $1200 today. That is a savings of $900 over the 6d. Really is a no brainer from where I stand.

Some people just don't like to buy used. Others don't like to buy used of certain types of products. Personally, I don't buy used electronics. I don't think it's fear so much as just personal preference for a variety of reasons.

My last two cameras have been used and were mint!! I would not necessarily buy it off ebay or from craigslist but from a forum like here where you can track someones rep.

i got in on the $1499 deal for a brand new 5dmkii so $600 dollars savings was well worth it for me to go with the 5dmkii instead of the 6d.

the 6d is showing some really good image performance though.. but i cant stand the 60d like body myself as some other people have noted as well. if it was only a matter of $300 like the OP i would have probably gone with the 6D and bared with the 60D like body lol.

I would take the 5D2 over the 6D anyday of the week, month or year. The button layout and feel of the 5D2 is much better. I couldn't ever buy a camera that didn't have the little joystick in the back next to my thumb. Also, 5D2 build is better, top is made of metal not plastic. IQ will be very indiscernible between the two. Save the money, get the 5D2 and put that $300 or whatever difference towards a new lens.

I just saw the Digitalrev YouTube review of the 6D and it's pretty nice, but most of the new bells and whistles are just gimmicks to me. I really don't like the 60D look, feel and layout either. I am just going to stick with my 7D for now and if the urge to go full frame becomes too much to resist, I would rather get a 5D2 used. Then I would use the 7D for the action shots and the 5D2 for more of the studio work.

Are 5DII's available through the Canon Loyalty Program? 20% off a refurb can make it pretty attractive.
