Hi all

I have just got a 24mm TS-E Mk1 but unfortunately minus its lens hood.
Is it worth buying one and if so can anyone recommend a third party hood as the canon one will doubtless be overpriced

Cheers

Chris

I have the MkII, but assuming lens hood is similar. I find the combination of the size of the hood, with the relatively little help it provides has made it end up not making it into my bag more and more often. Virtually every other lens I have I always shoot with the hood on FWIW

I may actually have the hood you need. It was sent to me by KEH when I bought my MKII and I've had no use for it. If I can find it tonight I'll let you know and you can have it. (assuming I kept it of course)
edit: just noticed you're in the UK. Not sure if it would be worth the shipping costs .........

Shipping to the UK is really cheap via USPS first class, last time I sent an item to my friend over there it was around $11 for 2 lbs worth of stuff. A lens hood is what 1-3oz at the most?

For that hood, likely 1oz. It's really just a thin band, think of a hood for a 14mm lens......

I agree. I have the MkII as well and I haven't used mine once.

My mkII hood has been on the lens once I think. Still in my bag but I doubt for lon, pretty useless, and I tend to be using filters more often than not anyhow.

Thanks to everyone who replied and particularly to scatterbrain ( if you find the hood and postage is reasonable please drop me a pm).
I have found a design for a printed paper hood but from what everyone says its hardly worth the effort of producing it.
Thanks again

Chris
