Hmmm there have been many reports of people having bought a lens that was not from authorized dealers and not US warranty card and Canon still performed warranty work on them within the year warranty that is on US lenses. Also keep in mind that Canon's grey market lens is exactly the same lens as the one you would buy from an authorized store except doesn't come with USA warranty card. One would hope that you wouldn't need any warranty service in the first year and in that case it wouldn't matter if authorized, grey market or not.
