Vagabond II Charging Question

When you don't use the Vagabond for extended periods of time, do you plug your unit in every couple weeks for a full charge or do you keep it on a trickle charger? I have a trickle charger I use on my bikes and was wondering if that was "healthier" for the SLA battery in the Vagabond.

A quick read of battery university suggest contact trickle charging isn't a good idea. Instead give it a charge every 6 months.

The advice I read years ago was to keep it plugged in all the time when not in use and at the least every few months use it so that the battery doesn't loose it's ability to hold a charge.

I have had my Vag II for over 3 1/2 years now and I have been using that advice with no negative side effects. (knock on wood, toss a pinch of salt over my shoulder, XX on window shield, spin around 3x, etc...)

Oh and in a year's time I may use it 2-3 times at the most.
