Cool shot Marm...digging the white on white

Another of the 'reflections' I took the other day....Not great...i'd like to go back another day to get a stronger shadow and more definition of the city scape in reflection...

I like the bokeh on these. What lens did you use?

Thanks. The first one was with the 85 1.8 and the second was with the 70-300 IS

Thanks for the warm welcome friends! Thanks jamganz, ontonagondave, Marm O. Set, Dirby, Mitch A., Marubozo!!!, bobobird. I have tons of images to 'catch up' so I'll be posting them (fewer than 8 at a time!) in the days to come. Thanks again.

@Mathew, really cool image! Love the glow of it all.

@Viperr, cool frosty shot. Those purely 'texture' type shots are great and have usually eluded me... My mind does not seem to 'catch' them when they happen or porduce them on purpose. Very nice.

@Maxx... sweet pictures of the BMW. I would have loved to see the second one with a bit more of the warm mountains showing in the back (not more DoF, but rather more air to the left of the car). But that's just me wanting to see the environment, the shot is great.

Best regards,
Rafa.

Hermano!! Tanto tiempo!! Great to see your back.. I see you have been busy awesome pics as usual.
And as for the t2i being a excellent quality camera. Yes it is. And it's also a combination with the user also to get the best out of it.

Still got mine even though I got a 5d2.
Is it a better camera? Well there is much debate abou that.
But the one thing I hate it's the weight. You can never compare the weight with our little plastic companion.

It's my everyday camera and also my work horse combined with the 5d2

Whooooaaaaa! Totally awesome. Looks like 8-bit Nintendo graphics. I wonder if you could play-up that aspect?

Thanks. The distinct glow quality was unplanned but very welcome :)

Taking the 550d on New Year's Eve in to Boston to check out the fireworks and ice sculptures, Xmas trees etc.

Recommended operating temperature is up to 32deg for this camera and my other one.
Has anyone pushed that limit or should I just take my P&S?

Any tips if you have pushed the limit without any issues?
I have a camera bag but I don't think it's enough

I have a camera bag but I don't think it's enough

I've used it for a couple of hours in temperatures ranging from -15 to 0C (5-32 F) with no problems whatsoever and I know people have been using cameras at much worse conditions, I'd recommend that you take a couple of ziplocs in your bag and when you're done put the camera/lenses in them and leave them for a couple of hours, maybe add an anti-humidity material to be safe. Use the search tool, i remember reading a couple of very useful comments on POTN.

I've used my 550D on the slopes last winter in temperatures between -10 and +3°C or so and experienced no problems whatsoever either.

DT - take a spare battery.

As for operating in the cold - I had it outside sitting on a tripod for 10 hours in -7 to -12c temps without any issues.

The only thing to worry about is condensation so when it was taken off the tripod I put everything in the boot of my car and left it in there for the drive home. By the time I got back and checked the gear in the back their temps had returned to about normal. Took everything back in and no issues whatsoever.

The T2i is one tough cookie. I would not have got rid of it if it was less battered or if this or that piece of rubber was not peeling off.
