Opteka foldable beauty dish

Curious if anyone has tried this out. Seems awful cheap, but easy to carry...might be worth ordering one and trying it out.

I never have problem carrying my kacey dish but then I drive to my shoots in my car.

Bobby, its not to the shoot, its all over the golf course that's the pain.

For $15 its worth testing. Can't be any worse than direct flash in the face.

Or a StoFen and I think they cost that much too.

Kacey dish is quite light. Camera/lens will weigh more than it.

Read about the only reviews on it on Amazon, about 4 total is all I could find, and every one of them said that the snaps broke when putting it together, and they say it was a waste of their money. i didn't bother.

Id say no to this one.

Even if the snaps broke, its worth $15 to try.
I ordered one tonight.

And what about the light stand etc.

When I'm traveling with the bridal party I try to keep it down to a nano or cheetah stand, a speedlite and camera bag with a couple of lenses.
That's what make this collapsable stuff intriguing. It fits into the pocket at the back of the camera bag and offers another option.

What I found comical was the "You save $84.XX", then I went, what??? WTF did they hope to get for it and I read it. $99.XX for that? What a bunch of horse **** asking that kind of money...

Which is probably why the first we've seen of it on the fora is now when its offered for its sellable price.

The MRSP an ego thing for some of these companies I think. It does not take much imagination to understand what the value is in the buyer's mind.

So an update? How did this turn out?

I got it, put it together and haven't taken the time to mount it on a speedlite.
Its an integrate set of pieces that need to be assembled as they are being attached to the speedlite. Way too complicated to use in the field. Which is were one would suspect they intended it to be used. Otherwise why make it collapsible.

I'd send it back but the cost of postage would negate the refund. And I may still take the time to get it onto a speedlite just to see what kind of light is makes.

Bottomline, if one wants a beauty dish for a speedlite get one that is metal with a bracket. Starting with the smaller cheap ones from China and ending with the really nice Kacey dish.
