Received the following back from Big Value Inc via e-bay

Dear justaddwata,

Thank you for your email. I do apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Unfortunately, we have found an issue with this kit for most of our customer and a re investigating why our customers are receiving kits without the accessories. In the meanwhile I am able to send you most of the items.

Will see what I get - All I really want is the warranty card. I can live with the other charger etc.

Doesn't the warranty card have the serial number of the camera on it?

I just got a similar reply as justaddwata. how can they send just any warranty card to you. It doesn't really make any sense.

I think this guy is just buying a lot of kits and splitting them up, right?

I'm certain they're doing it quite a bit, but mine wasn't a split up kit.

Mine arrived today with a US warranty card but no battery, charger, eyepiece or strap. I cant even turn the thing on.....they did offer me a free battery for slow shipping though.

sometimes buying for a couple of hundred dollars from a reputed dealer with US warranty saves these woes right :-)

I got warranty card that matched the box and body, all the stuff inside. It was a normal 5D3 by itself. Basically what you'd get from every other place if you were buying body only.

Man guys and gals, I feel really bad for you, so please do not take this the wrong way...and it's not directed at you. But when Big Value popped into the scene here on POTN a few months ago, I was super skeptical. I did a couple of hours of research and found out that they are a descendent of the infamous Broadway Photo. For those that are unaware, Broadway Photo was one of the biggest bait-n-switch and scam artist companies out there. In hopes of protecting all of my fellow POTN friends I made several posts warning folks, but my warnings and fears were proven wrong (at the time) as people were reporting back that they were getting exactly what was advertised. Now, fast-forward 3 months later, and folks are clearly being ripped off.

This really makes my heart sink because I don't want any of you to go through this, but unfortunately you are. If I were you, I would not even mess around with Big Value. Instead, I recommend that you immediately file a claim with eBay/PayPal, and then your credit card company if necessary. Folks, these people have a history of doing things like this and it dates back at least 8 years. And it's not going to stop. Besides rectifying your own situation, going after them through eBay may possibly help protect others from their deceit and bad business practices.

And don't even worry about the fact that you'll have to return it and won't have a Canon 5D in hand. I guarantee you that the rest of here on POTN will be watching closely and will find you a nearly equal deal on a shiny new Canon 5D Mark III sometime soon.

Best of luck to all of you affected by this! If I can think of ways to help, I certainly well.

Bryan

Looking at their eBay history, they've made a turn for the worse in the last 30 days, with the rate of negative feedback being 6x what it was before -- changing from less than 1%, to now 5%. They've lost their "Top Seller" Rating on eBay as a result.

This is unfortunate as they were a reliable source of US model 5D3 deals for several months prior to the last two deals. The fact that some people are getting the US model they are advertising should give you some hope in being able to resolve this properly. Please contact BVI as well as start a PayPal/eBay "Item Not As Described" claim process.

I've now put up the text "Grey Recently Reported" and reverted them back to Grey Market status, as opposed to Canon USA Warranty on our website, as a warning to all.

unfortunately if they advertise WITH USA WARRANTY, then i would think THAT is what would be expected in the package...

That's where the word "reputed" comes into play. In this case, "reputed" means "trustworthy" to me.

B&H, Adorama, Amazon = reputed
BVI = not so much judging by the feedback over the last month or so

Also keep in mind there are likely a good number of recent purchasers who are awaiting resolution before leaving feedback. I wait until the situation is finalized before I do - might be a week or 3 months - how I rate will reflect how they react. But there could well be dozens more negatives still in limbo.

(Thank you for your e-mails too!! ;) )
