I don't want to be a packrat, but I always wonder whether it adds to the ability to sell a piece of equipment, if you still have the original box to send to the buyer. Any thoughts?

I save em. I figure at the very least if will give the buyer piece of mind that I took care of the gear I'm selling.

i save them only for that reason... resale. i could care less about the empty boxes. they just take up space.

i never understood why people wanted the boxes so bad.

I've saved all my boxes and unused original content with that purpose in mind; I know I personally prefer to purchase a camera or lens with the original box. Altho not necessarily true I know, it does make me feel the item has been better cared for if the packaging is complete and in good shape as well.

..and that's why I do it.

I think most people would prefer to have items in the original box. Doesn't necessarily mean the item is in better shape than if not in the original packaging, but still....

Yes, I save all the boxes and everything that come with. Some buyers prefer to have the "whole" package. :D
