^7D?
Then better off to get T2i / 550D - very very cheap, and saving lots money for some really nice lenses :D

If you can barely afford the body, what's your plan for lenses. It's likely your lens kit will be unsuitable. If they are EF-S, they won't work at all. If they are EF they will all effectively be 60% wider/ shorter.

I would suggest looking at the 7d which will accomplish what you want without changing lenses.

I have already stated that I am fine with regard to lenses, and that the current generation of APS-C sensors is not sufficiently good for my wants/needs to justify an upgrade.

Since stating that I am fine with lenses isn't enough, here is the lens list I will have once I have upgraded/sold my EF-S and used the money from the EF-S to buy EF to assuage the more lens-oriented of you :):
17-40
24-105
70-200 f4 IS
100 2.8 macro
and of course good ol' nifty

I'd upgrade some of those before going for a new body, but that's my wants/needs.

Guess "barely afford" includes a lot of money for lenses. I missed that. The 5D3 is an amazing camera... Go for it!

I already have some of the lenses, and the crop lenses I currently own and will sell off will provide the funds to cover the remainder.

Barely afford was purely in relation to the body, much like this thread, which the crop lens sales will not go towards financing and which will come directly out of my bank balance. :(

Go for the 5D3! I got mine six months ago and it still makes me smile everytime I look at the images that it produces.

Still have my pair of 7Ds for shooting birds. They do a good job at that but when I can use the 5D3 it does a very good job. It's much better at landscapes too.

Somewhat Canon still doesn't fix 5D3 light leak; and only 22MP similar to 5D2; DOASS give better score for 6D than 5D3; too expensive; ...

Well, I hate you all :)

The Christmas spirit got the better of me (in a sense, since its for myself, not for others).

Do you know what is worse than waiting for the battery to charge when you have a new camera?

Waiting to be allowed to open the box after the battery has already been charged and is ready to go.

Did you get it?? I'm in the same boat as you except my style is slightly different and wifi is something i think that can make my life easier.

I think I'm going 5D still due to the AF, I'm just waiting for it to drop to $2500 before I pull the trigger.

I will say the 6D is 1900 on Buydig right now, which is crazy tempting.

Sorry we were not successful in convincing you to stay with the 450D

My original plan was to wait it out, but that didn't work out. I did get it, yes. Wifi would have been very useful, but the other features of the 5D won out.

Not to worry Watt, there is no way I'm getting rid of my 450D. It is staying with me and being my backup camera/lightweight kit :)

Talk you out a 5D3?

Easy.

Sell everything and buy a Nikon D600. It's a better camera.
