5DmkIII. Did I hype it too much for myself?

Yep. I don't have any SD cards and I don't plan on using it for now.

if Canon listen to this few issues with the 5diii, the 5DIV is going to be amazing.

I honestly agree; no backup slot would not be interesting.

I'm considering just sticking with another mk II for my next camera - I'd love more help with the better ISO performance in low-light but otherwise nothing makes me want to pay the extra $$$ for a mk III

with the fantastic current deals for the mkII, i wouldn't blame anyone for not upgrading at all

Yep - you can get one in Sydney for at least a $1200 cheaper

I could care less about the slightly better IQ of the MKIII, what I'm after is the autofocus. One shot focus I have no problem with, its the AI servo in low light/indoor hit/miss ratio that kills me with my 5DII. My 1DIII usually gets me about 80-90% keepers indoors in AI servo and my 5DII is around 40-50%. I personally cant wait till I have the coin to dump my 5DII for 5DIII simply for the autofocus.

But b/c the 5D3 is great in servo mode, unlike the 5D2, I find it great. I mean, shooting people dancing using my 50L @f1.2 in servo mode and non-center AF point? Yeah, that's what I'm talking about!

This is why I want the 5DIII, its how I shoot.

I agree 100% that the one shot is slightly slower with the Mark III. It's almost like it focuses, pauses, and then rechecks the focus before it beeps. Sometimes, it will audibly focus twice.

That said, I havent used single shot in a long long long time. Servo never misses for me so I just leave it on that.

I have had trouble focusing at low light receptions with the 5D3 as well. In fact, the only lens which I own that works well is the 24-70. My 70-200 and 135 have a REALLY hard time focusing. I did borrow a 50 1.2 and it locked focus way faster than anything I else I've tried. Have you tried different lenses?

I'm curious how the 70-200 MkII would compare to the MkI.

My Sigma 24-70, 70-200 mkII, 85 1.8 and Simga 50 1.4 all seem to work the same. Amazing in AI Servo but a smidge slower than I would expect in one shot.

I think the auto focus works pretty good.

This was shot on my Canon 5D mk3, on Version 1 of the 400 f2.8 and the version 3 of the 1.4 tele converter.

The photo was shot at f5.0, ( stopped down 2/3 of a stop ) 1/800 second at ISO 6400.
