OK, this is a silly thread, but I'm sure others have the same anticipation over something you ordered. I bought a mint Canon 300 2.8 IS last week and the seller shipped it by Fedex. It showed scanned into the center in Raleigh on Friday evening... oh the agony. I've been all weekend checking the tracker for some strange reason, knowing it will still say the same thing until Monday. I sold my 200 1.8 to someone, and I've been tracking that too... it was UPS so has had some movement over the weekend to get closer to the final destination. I wish Fedex would let you come in and pick up items on Saturday, but I get why they don't do it. It would probably cost them more to do that than to deliver it themselves. I will be like a kid on Christmas tomorrow when the Fedex truck does arrive! Anyone else waiting on a lens that's sitting at a carrier distribution center.

You got a good copy. I've gotten some good shots with it this weekend.
I'll try to get it re-packed up tonight.

This is why you order things on Sunday night or Monday morning. This way you can have it delivered to your house or work on Tuesday. Never order things on the weekend. This is why it is UPS's biggest day for deliveries is on Wednesday. Most people get things delivered 2 day air.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Yep... I actually bought it used from someone on FM on Thursday and they shipped 2 day air, but overnight delivery was quite expensive. I had been trying to sell my 200 for a few days and didn't want to pull the trigger on this guy until that was sold.

Thanks... I am sure you took good care of it and repacked it as new.

FedEx tracking site says my favorite phrase... "On FedEx vehicle for delivery."

I ordered a 15-85 from Canon refurb the other day and it hasn't shipped yet at all, so it's not even trackable yet. Not sure which is worse.

Oh wow... that would be really rough.

My only experience with customs problems, and this is REALLY a tangent discussion... was during the beanie baby boom. I ordered some boxes of them from a seller in Europe and they got stuck in customs and I never got them. Thankfully the seller refunded my money. But it took weeks to get it resolved.

Mike (convergent). Stay home, and wait for fed ex, or whoever is delivering it. Fed EX does not deliver where I live. They hand off their packages to the USPS for delivery which takes another 3 days. Post Office is 2 miles from where I live. My mail lady is not into photography, so she will not be using your lens. She did tell me that they are only delivering letters/etc. Packages have to wait. And, they want more money. BTW, congrats on the new lens. You will enjoy it.

NickS, I work from home so I'm always here. Its great for this kind of thing, other than after something arrives I have a hard time getting work done. But I'm "officially" on vacation this week, but making a few conference calls I didn't want to miss. I think I see the sun peaking out too, so may have to hit the local duck pond this afternoon. Fedex usually delivers stuff to me here in the morning, where UPS this time of year can be after dark before they get to the house. Your situation sounds kind of strange... can't believe that Fedex would agree to use USPS as an agent.

FedEX and UPS use the USPS for delivery, outer areas, places where they don't have a lot of need...happens a lot...the wife works at UPS corporate...sadly, that gives me no discount on using them...

Can you program an hour with Fedex/UPS? For exemple here I can write on Amazon that I want the package tomorow 18h30 and it will ring at your door at that moment. That way I dont have to be anxious all day...

Not sure where "here" is but here in the US the best we get is a tracking system that says "out for delivery". It could be delivered anytime during the day from early morning to after dark.

Yep, I've never heard of appointment delivery. The best you can get I thought was the "before xx:xx" deal, and they charge a lot more for that.

This thread is just for fun... I can seriously wait a few hours (or a few days) to get this thing... I have nothing urgent to use it for. I would have liked to have had it on Saturday for the volleyball tournament, but given the venue it would have only been there because it was new. Knowing how restrictive the place is to shoot in, I would not bring something that size normally because everyone is jammed in like sardines and I would not have wanted to deal with the size of that lens in there.
