A better bounce card studio pro

I have made my supply of better bounce cards from foam paper. But the better bounce card studio pro is not so easy. Due to it's size, foam paper just flops around at that size. Does anyone know what I could make one of out at that size? I thought about white cardboard but cannot find a place that sells them one sheet at a time.

Double up on the foam by gluing two sheets back to back, add a bit of stiff wired between layers for support but with the ability to bend if needed

I have tried 2 sheets of foam before but where it attaches to the flash, it is soo top heavy it just flops around..even with 2 sheets. Stiff wired?

Use the Alum wire they sell in craft stores for supporting flower arrangements.

Sorry stiff wire. Just something light to provide stability and support.

Ok great....I'll check on it. Plus I thought maybe getting white poster board..not the thick cardboard stuff but the thin kind that you put in envelopes with enlargements.

The problem with that comes down to storage. They dont hold up well in a bag being creased and folded. Plus anything stiff enough to work is likely to be heavier than craft foam.

I have made something similar to the bouncecard but using white and black foam sheets from the craft shot. Glue them together and cut the top corners off and round the base so that it will fit around your flash unit. Use velcro strip to overlap, so that it can grip the top of the flash and put two cuts about a quarter the way up, so that when fitted to the flash, you can then alter the reflected surface as much as you like with two velcro pads to hold it in place. It looks similar to the large bouncecard but costs a darn sight less and lays flat for transportation. The Bouncecard is very overpriced in my opinion.

True. I don't mind it be heavier than craft foam, craft foam is too flimsy anyway even with combined with another one. But I don't want it as thick as a cardboard box either, cannot bend that way.

yeah, I have made plenty of them with the foam sheets I got from a local hobby shop but they are too flimsy to be used at the size of the studio pro that I would like to use with my manual flash strobes when I don't want to break out the umbrellas. I put 2 of them together and where the thing attaches to the flash it just flops back and forth. I need somethng like poster board but not as thick as cardboard.

Use the plastic canvas that u can get at the same stores as a stiffner between the foam sheets.

The foam sheets I obtained from the hobby shop were A4 size and with two sheets together there is no way they could be considered 'floppy'. In fact they are nice and firm. Perhaps you are thinking about the very airiated foam, not the 'Hobbycrafy FAB FOAM' about 2mm thick per sheet. They work well.

They work at 12x14 or 11x13 size? All I have made just flops over right at the top of the flash where it attaches like it is too top heavy. I bought a 36" roll of 2mm white foam and other sizes of the betterbouncecards are fine but when it comes to the size of 11x13 at least where where it attaches by velcro strap to the flash, right above that at the flash head (where the narrow piece goes big) it flops over ..sooo flimsy..too top heavy. Going to have to put plastic between the sheets or something..so that means cutting out 3 separate things (sigh)...wish I knew what he made his from but I'm not paying $59.85 to find out.
