Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention. I need all of you to please stop what you're doing and listen.

All other projects are to be put on hold until after a prime sharp 14-24 f2.8 is released around 2k price point. An f4 lens would be acceptable for a reduction in price. And don't even think about putting IS in it to ramp up the price.

Deadline: March 2013.

Carry on.

I'd rather encourage not to stop what they are doing:

Deadline you proposed should be shifted few months, I'm afraid.

That makes sense. They would then have 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, 200-400. No overlap and a killer line up!

Skip this one too. I am still happy with my 7D. Bring on the 50/1.4 IS, but please make it under $900

that one's already in the works, right?

at least according to canonrumors...

it's crazy that i feel like if it's under $900 it's a pretty good deal...i guess that's the benefit of releasing a 24/28mm f2.8 IS lenses at $800...

Really wish canon would make a 14-24 f/2.8.....the 16-35 is good but that extra 2mm on full frame is heaven. If Nikon can do it, why cant Canon.

Yes I guess there is some desensitizing going on there. Though if they can provide a lens smaller, a little slower, and as sharp as the 50L or maybe even better. Give it better bokeh than the 1.4, real USM, and kick in IS for good measure. Price it in between the current 1.4 and 1.2, and I would jump on it.

Yep, if it came down to 2.8 couldnt take filters but f4 could Id take the f4 every time. 2.8 is just nice to have for starscapes but I don't do that type of photography enough to truly care.

As with most things I see on CR, I'll believe it when I see it.

I agree. I have the Sigma 12-24, which is pretty good, but a really sharp 2.8 would be awesome.
