Isn't that neat?

I got the 70-200 f4 non-IS. I haven't had a chance to really test it out yet, but I did get some shots of Jupiter and the Orion Nebula last night. The images are considerably better than what my 55-250 is capable of.

Gear: A lot more than I deserve and a lot less than I want!

Same here... My first L as well. Great choice!

Edit: mine is a IS version. Still, IS or no IS, it is an awesome lens.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

That was my first L, still kicking strong 6 years later. It's a sharp solid lens that's light weight.

I don't have a 70-200 f/2.8. Only a f/4.

Congrats! I am also curious about your Orion shot with the L glass. I did some astro-shots with my 55-250mm last year. It performed quite well and exceeded my expectation.

Congrats. Once you go L it is hard to go back. Take your time and enjoy each one. They are truly in a class of their own. Enjoy!
