Any guesses as to pricing on this puppy, given that we now have the 24-70 II and 24-70 f/4 IS as benchmarks? I'll kick it off with a guess of $3200 as pre-order pricing, dropping down to an even $3000 after a month or two of being available.

yes 2014 - people hwo want to buy this can wait while others will cash on the low prices of the holiday season and hopefully take some good pics of the new mkII/old mki lens

Wonder what the max mag will be. That new f/4 IS was a really pleasant surprise in that department.

The 2.8 II is 2.3k, the f4 IS is 1.5K, I'll guess $3899.

Still useless to me. Won't be interested in the IS version unless its optically better.

In all honesty, I really don't see the need for IS on a 24-70 lens. 70-200...yes.
