I was gonna say, must be working with some pretty fast shutter to be able to freeze the action like that...but the strobes make sense

Very nice. I'll even let the crooked horizon in the first few slide. Of all the sports where flash is forbidden because it disturbs the athletes (yeah right), one would think that this would be at the top of that list. However, I think you ROCKED it. :D

Cheers guys! Getting focus to track precisely in the near dark is tricky, but the 1D helps big time. For those interested, flashes were were a 430 camera left and a nissin 866 camera right, triggered with odins.

Haha, I have been shooting skateboarding for the last couple of years, and have been riding long boards and racing for the last 8 or so, and yes, flashes can be a little distracting, but if you are that distracted by a little flash, then you not focussed enough on your racing!. Its something I probably wouldn't use at a word cup race, but at these small local events its not too much of an issue. I try to keep my ISO higher, so I can keep the flash power down to make it a little less distracting. No one seems too worried about them being used, especially when they end up with a photo of themselves at the end of it.
