First Try At Macro

Finally was able to play around with my 100mm f2.8 lens. I took a couple of pics of the x-small, small, and medium sized water droplets on my car. This was inside a garage with one major source of light. Pictures were taken at 1.02 feet away. Pictures are linked from my facebook, so picture quality is degraded.

good start, it gets addictive

Love all the tiny little specks of color.

The colors in #1 looks crazy! The in focus parts looks like a whole different color than the out of focus part, that's so neat!

Thanks. I tried looking for some bugs out in our balcony around my mom's plants, but it's been raining, so nothing was around.

That's all the mica in my car's paint color. Flint mica is such a nice color, but hard to paint match.

Thanks, it kind of looks fake because of the out of focus part

What suggestions would you guys give for a beginner? I'm planning on making a crude ring light out of one of my camping lights to help illuminate possible subjects since I'm not sure if using a speedlite would be a good idea.

I am not that good at this stuff, but there is one bit of advise I can confidently give, read the following :

Thanks. Either I need to buy a bracket and a cord for my flash, or use a Pringles container. Gotta look more into that rig thread.

This time around, which was at least 2 months ago, I applied 1 coat of Collinite 476s wax. That stuff is great! The time before that was around August 16, with a full 16 hour detail job. Clay bar (Meguair's), polish (Meguiar's), wax (Meg's Gold Class 1 coat), door jambs, under the hood, engine bay, remove each wheel and clean, clay bar, and wax (Meg's NXT 2.0) the face, lip, and barrel (not clay barred or waxed).

speedlite will be much better than a ring lite.

I don't have a bracket, so I can only use it on the hot shoe. Would that still be better than a ring light?
