Bump the internal settings up for optimal high iso shooting, then edit in Lightroom!

Could you please share the editing you do in LR to compensate for high ISO?

What do your histograms look like? Do you ETTR?

I understand the histogram but what is ETTR?

Sorry for my NOOB questions.

Merry Christmas everyone! AND, Great job with the pictures too! I've had my T3i for about a year. Taking 1000's of pix trying to improve. You are all amazing in your shooting! You are all using the T3i and getting amazing results, so it must be me! Biz, how'd you do that with the tree?? I've been shooting our tree all day trying to get an effect like that. Super nice!
I'm for sure a noob, I need to figure out how to post on here so you all can give me some pointers. Thank you all for making this hobby a blast! Jeff

Hi Jeff! The tree is super easy. Our tree has a rotating stand. Set up the camera on a tripod, dimmed the lights, and put the camera on a slow shutter. The tree spins really slowly but the slow shutter makes it look really fast. I actually showed the photo to my 6 and 4 year old boys in the morning and told them I got a turbo spinner for the tree...you shoulda seen the look on their faces :D

Hi T3i users! Your pictures are amazing; excellent, excellent photographers.

I just placed my order for a T3i + 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 + 50 f/1.8 II bundle (external link) for CAD$647 (including taxes). A new T3i body is a little over CAD$500 so I think after selling the two lenses, I would have paid less for the body in the bundle compared to just buying the body. Extremely excited! I'm downgrading and will be keeping my 50 f/1.4 therefore, selling the two bundled lenses.

Expose to the right. Basically bump up the expo comp about 1/3 or 2/3,stops until the histogram is moved over to the right without blowing out the highlights. You can dial it down in PP. This will help with noise.

Gear List

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

No, not perfect. Some bricks weren't connected perfectly. Will redo it in a couple of days!
