The Zebras look useful  :-)

Be aware that this is an early 'Alpha' release.

So far so good. Real test is for tomorrow...

I like the "Don't click me!" option..
Camera may turn into a 1Ds or it may explode. Lol..

I believe the "Don't click me!" option melts down the camera and degrades it down to a Nikon.. So I've heard! :)

Current "alpha" version is missing some functions and has to be installed (i.e. firmware update) every time you power the camera on.

So, it will be a while before it is fully useful. Pretty interesting so far but I don't normally shoot using live view so alot of the functionality isn't really intuitive. I can see it bbeing pretty useful for some specific applications but will take some getting used to.

I tried the Alpha last night (after updating to Canon FW 2.0.3 from 2.0.0)All I got was digital gibberish. I could make out a few items, None of the menus were readable. I was able to see the small histogram at the bottom. I am sure this will all get sorted out very soon.

NICE!

I LOVE Magic Lantern on my T2i, but hadn't checked to see if it works on the 7D. The 7D is now moving closer on my radar. Maybe early next year I may try to pick up a 7D. ML will make it that much nicer, IMHO!

ETA: Looks like it's not compiled quite yet. I had an older version of ML on my 550D and saw back in July or so that the latest version was out, but you couldn't download it fully compiled. I spent about 6 hours trying to get a Linux VM set up so I could compile it just a couple weeks ago... before I checked the site and saw that it was ready for download.

Magic Lantern Alpha 2 for the 7D has just been released.

It's still an alpha (early) version, but now has much of the previously missing stuff re-enabled after a few key issues were solved.

Download it from:

I just installed it. WOW! Several new features (intervalometer, advanced HDR, bit rate control for video) and fixed many others, most notably the flickering Magic Zoom. Still waiting for some others, but this is really getting there!

I have a 60D that I use this on all the time in video mode and it's a mainstay. A big part of why I still have a 60D is that I shoot a lot of video and the 7D hasn't had real support for M/L.

I've played with the 7D alpha and it's getting there.

I got the same thing. Did you get this fixed?

Nevermind. I found out what I did wrong. I didn't copy the ML folder only the FIR file. Now it's fixed.
