Something different. Canon Canada is selling the 50mm f/1.8 (external link) for $99.99
and the 50mm f/1.4 (external link) for $299.99 with Free Shipping and a Free 16G SDHC card.

Actually, Amazon.com does ship Canon lenses (but not bodies) to Canada. They charge you a deposit up-front for the tax, and refund any unused amount after delivery.

It's a tiny bit troublesome because they overcharge you up front for the tax (something like 30%) but then refund everything but the sales tax amount. Their shipping, though, is very reasonable and actually comes out a couple of dollars less than B&H.

Canon Canada was sold out, but looks like they have stock again on both lenses.
I'm not sure what brand the 16G memory card is, but will find out when it gets here.

Have fun regardless where you get the lens.

I got lucky and picked up the 50 1.4 at 1 am. It shows as out of stock, but they release more from time to time, so keep trying - good til 10am Dec 31. The SDHC card is class 6 good thing it's free!
