Canon has officially discontinued the EOS 5D Mark II. Quite possibly the most popular and influential DSLR in history.

Some stock is still out there, but it won’t last for long.

For the price it's currently at - I don't think it will be beaten for a long time! ;)

Maybe the 5D MkIV.... if such a beast will ever exist?

Ive been tempted to get a 5DII for a good while now. Should I take the plunge and get one or hold out and get the MKIII when prices lower bit more?

One thing that has struck me over the past year or so is that whenever I spot and image on here with that Wow factor, I look at the exif and 9 times out of 10 its a 5DII.

If I don't make a decision soon, I may never get my hands on a new one.?

Moin, I notice your signature contains 5DII as a wish, will you take the plunge or are you faced with the same dilemma as myself ?

Yes, get one. It compliments the 7d nicely.

im in the same boat as you firephotographer. Rumor has it that another 7d2 coming out so that might drop the price of the 5d2 even more. Crossing my fingers.

Bit of a shame as i have a 5dmk3 and was thinking of getting a 5dmk2 as my smash about camera, does mean they will be coming up even cheaper now, but saying that I'm shocked how cheap the 5dmk3 is now.

I still have another 150k shots on my 2 5dm2, and if the price continue to drop I will buy one more.

How quickly do you think stock will last now this has been announced. With it being such a good camera, do you think the price will drop or gradually increase a little as they will still be a sought after camera.

Personally, I have always wished I had purchased one instead of my 7D and feel i will have missed out if I do not get one ?

I will go for the 5D2 definitely. Even if 5D3 prices come down a bit, it won't fit my budget.
