Got swooped by some Masked Lapwings, quite common here in Australia as they can nest in quite urban areas. Still haven't managed to get any good shots of younger birds though.

I'd only recently gotten a 7D too so good field practice to get used to the AF tracking and expanded points. You can tell some had better focus than the others, even at web size.

Here's one of the (relatively) easy targets where I kick myself later:
- it is a heavy crop, yet I'm not even at full focal length/zoom (granted only 40mm, but still ...)
- the shot was way under exposed, like a whole stop, with plenty of shutter speed left to get it properly exposed and probably then some to reduce the ISO too

That said the result is ok, at web size lol, otherwise I wouldn't have uploaded it to my Flickr :p

Thanks mate. Yep I'm really happy when the AF managed to get the right spot. Few and far between though unfortunately.
