I don't see you lasting long. So I'll wish you a happy Christmas now, and a joyous New Year.

walt - post a pic to get back to the original intent of this blog

Crap - I'm at work. Most of the photos here are from my 5D.

I'll find one. How about Yosemite falls. Exif is stripped but I don't think I had my 5D when we went there.

Thanks

My son and I did a road trip 2 years ago down the Oregon Coast and over to Crater Lake and it rained most of the time.

In July the Rim Road was still closed at Crater Lake with about 6 feet of snow. I'd like to go back when its nicer.

Walt,

In the sunset pic i posted above, I focused on the silhouette - making the beautiful background out of focus. That along with the crooked horizon doesn't make that image too appealing in my opinion.

do you mind critiquing it?

Thanks!

Wow. This past July? 2012? Rim road was closed due to 6 ft of snow?!?! I recall winter 2011/2012 being one of the heaviest winters for mammoth....that snow must've hung around well into summer.

With elevation of around 6,700, it makes sense crater lake still had snow.

I think I would have tried to capture that picture vertically. Its a great shot but I would have cloned out that one seagull(?) in the foregound.
Portrait mode (or cropping) would exclude the people down the beach that take away from your subject.

And in DPP you can straighten that horizon in 5 seconds.

No, that was a couple of years back - maybe 2009 or 2010.
My software that shrinks the pictures for web and puts the watermark on them takes out the EXIF data. Gotta use a different one.
