After selling my Bigmos on ebay, btw I probably wont ever do again. The fees are insane, selling price 793.00 23.00 to paypal and a whopping 76.00ish for ebay. No more for me. But anyways....

I was looking for better IQ, the Sigma just wasn't doing it for me. Then realizing the 100-400L was a tad out of reach budget wise as well the 400 5.6l. I decided to upgrade my nifty 250 with the 70-200 f4 L. Brand spanking new from BandH 559.00 not bad I think considering most of the same used on ebay were around the same price. We're talking new and not the grey market stuff either. They have a 80buck instate rebate til the 5th on Jan.

I also grabbed a Hoya CP filter.

It's hard selling anything on ebay anymore because fees are so high. Also, don't forget those Paypal fees!

Double sucks that ebay and paypal are one in the same. Ebay owns paypal. Nice little scam they have going there.

Yep. Ebay/Paypal consume close to 14% of your sale when all is said and done.

I use ebay as a kind of advertising service now. If I list something, I set a high buy it now price but allow ppl to make offers. Then we can talk. Often I have then completed deals outside of ebay to save on selling/paypal fees. All it costs me is the small listing fee.

how do you figure it's a scam? sounds like your (mis)use of ebay is the real scam. i know there is a lot of whining about paypal fees but do you think someone should provide instantaneous transfers of cash for free?

if ebay were "too expensive" they would be out of business. i've been a business owner for a couple of decades and while i'm not always thrilled about the cost of doing business it is what it is.

Most times people will pay more in ebay. You get protections from both ebay and paypal. Everyone wants buyers to use pp gift in here but that shouldn't even be allowed, too easy to get ripped off.

Congrats on the new lens!

I won't touch eBay for electronics. I buy locally if buying used.

Wow, after all the ebay and pp... Thanx, should be here mid week. As far as loosing 300mm, it will be fine most of the BiF were either too far away or too fast to get a really good capture. If I was just shooting for myself no big deal. But since Im shooting for myself and my site, I would rather and clean shot then what the Sigma could give. I have a couple of keepers with it, but the rest junk. I dont like the lens.

Not Ill shoot wildlife when I can, I do have zoos all around me. I know some of the shots I just wont be able to get. Again that sigma was horrible 80% of the time. I rather better IQ than headaches and backaches from lunking that thing around

Agree with you on this one. They provide a service that millions use. I usually try to sell on here, FM, and CL first... and if I don't get a bite I'll go to Ebay because its a guaranteed sale if you list it for a dollar... and it almost always nets me similar money to what I was going to get here. But then I also sell with regular Paypal and pay the selling fee as the seller... the same as the way Ebay handles it. So I think its the folks that are trying to game the system with "gift" and such that probably don't like Ebay.
