you glue the chip to the mount. the chip contains basic exif info such as focal length, maximum aperture, and you can program a microadjust value aswell. It's all just stored in the chip. that being said, your exif will always come out 1.4 unless you change the value in your manual settings to what you change it to on the lens (which I never do) but it'll record your basic exif.

There's a huge part of me that wants to keep this lens forever b/c it's soooo fun to use!

But the more I shoot, the more I realize that I need a really good standard zoom. I'm thinking about selling this or my Sigma 85 to fund the Tamron 24-70.

It doesn't help that with the exchange rate, the Tamron is more expensive in Japan than in the U.S.

No way i would sell the Sigma 85, such a beautiful lens. I only have good things to say about Tamron lenses. But then again no way would I sell the 35mm, Its so cheap now that if I sold it I would take a loss. You can purchase them for about $380 new on occasions and I bought mine back when they were $500.

Touch decision...

That actually might not be a bad idea! The 40D, although it is a great camera, gets little use these days as a backup camera. I'd prob. get another 5DII to cover it, since they're so cheap nowadays.

And yea, the Samyang 35mm is so cheap I should might as well keep it instead of selling it for a loss.

Let me get this straight... you shoot Nikon, subscribe to Canon forums, and publicly announce your resignation from a thread? Bit of an oxymoron there.

Good pics Ride.
